Inspired by Chinese Lantern flowers this serving dish is made using a mono printing technique and has a rustic charm to it. The designs are painted on newsprint in reverse order from foreground to background and transferred at just the right moment to the surface of the wet, red clay. From there the dish is shaped and finished. I love the unstructured, worn texture caused by the imprint of the wet paper on clay. No two pieces are ever the same.
Each piece is made with red stoneware glazed with a clear, food-safe gloss finish. Base is unglazed. Measures: 33 cm x 12cm x 2.5cm at widest/highest points (13″ x 4.75″ x 1″) Subtle variations in shapes, colours and patterns are celebrated features of a hand made item.
