Perfect for small snacks! When you’re finished your snacks use as a trinket dish or used teabag holder. Each piece is different in some small way because they’re made entirely by hand.
Each dish cut out of red clay and shaped. When it is nearly dry, three to four layers of white background are painted on to the red clay. A hand-cut paper stencil is affixed to the white background and mulitple layers of colours are brushed on top. Once the stencil is removed brightly coloured accents are painted on. When the dish is fully dry it is fired so that it can accept glaze, then it is painted with two layers of clear glaze and fired a second time. And … that’s all it takes to make a little dish!
Materials: red stoneware with a tulip stencil resist, painted with underglazes and glazed in a clear glossy food-safe glaze.
Handmade never produces exact replicas. Each piece is slightly off round and different from the others. Variations in shapes, colours and patterns are celebrated features of a handmade item.
